Tomorrow morning you can watch live feed back form the cockpit during his attempt. Hopefully he doesn't hit anything like the Apache Star did 2 years ago.

I love the ground effects on that boat. Should help any chine walking and help lift the boat. Good luck

Was looking forward to tracking this but it's not working. I saw one message where the boat lost a prop shaft and is headed to KW one one motor. Reads like the team has been to Havana but not heard of a one way record was broken.

A powerboat race team appears to have broken a time record for crossing from the Florida Keys to Cuba.

Throttleman Nigel Hook of San Diego, and driver Jay Johnson of Scottsdale, Arizona, piloted the 48-foot SilverHook on Thursday just over 103 miles from Key West to a point off the El Morro castle in Havana in 1 hour, 18 minutes and 3 seconds.

The boat averaged 79.23 mph in what veteran racer Hook labeled "very tricky water."

Their time eclipsed an unofficial 2015 record of 1:30 set by Apache Star, and the 1922 sanctioned record of 6 hours.

Hook and Johnson attempted a faster return trip Thursday, but a drive shaft failure disabled one of two engines.

SilverHook's achievement is pending world-record sanctioning by the American Power Boat Association and Union Internationale Motonautique

^^^ Day late and buck short.

Seeing all the choppers fallowing him, I hope they put out a video of the run. Reported seas were 5-7 foot on the return trip, and that is when the drive shaft failed. That is a chit load of TQ coming out of those 1550's
