We are shopping dual engine express cruisers in the 37-38’ range. Something we can live on every weekend anchored away, and I can stand up in. I’m tall 6’4”.

Looks great. GLWS. Express cruiser with 6'5" headroom might be a short list. Too bad Mseuro just sold the sweetest 405 around and it was in your back yard. Maybe a 525 400SS Formula? 38EC Fountian? But I've never been in the cabin on one, no idea on the headroom.

There was a tall deck 43 Black Thunder for sale at LOTO. Maybe still is. You can stand up in that. Double the cruise speed of an express. Just sayin....

I met the guy who bought it. He comes to Ft. Mcree frequently. It’s a nice boat.

We are getting out of performance boating, moving towards the yacht category. Slow and lazy. We want all the comforts of home so we want to be out there.

Are you going to dry stack the new boat or is it gonna be a floater?

I'm debating that. If it's a floater, it will have inboard V Drives (less to worry about corrosion - handles waves better). If it's a stacker, it will be stern drives (better speed and fuel economy). Pros and Cons on both sides, yet to decide. Then I have to decide either Mercrusier or Volvo Penta. Mercrusier supposedly is easier to find parts and a bit cheaper. Volvo is supposedly easier to maintenance items like the raw water pump impeller. Ahh, choices.

Most likely the size/style of boat we are shopping rules out stern drives.

Well, if you get the waterborne RV, then you can be the anchor boat next June when we all descend on Robertson Island. We'll get a nice raft up going out in the channel.

And a ton of fun. I always wanted to just anchor out there for the weekend. As much as I might enjoy it, I don't think that sort of boat is in our future. But better to have friends with big boats.....

Here are the boats the wife and I have looked at during our quest.

    Sea Ray 340
    Sea Ray 36 Sedan Bridge
    Four Winns V355 and V375
    Chaparral 310 and 330
    Monterey 355 SY

    Boats we want to see

    Regal 3760
    Monterey 320
    Sea Ray 320

I will know which boat to buy when I see it. The models we’ve seen so far were either too small, out of our budget, or in too poor condition.

Those Sea Rays are hard to beat especially for your wish list. Nice boats.

The SR 340 feels large due to a 12’ beam and overall length of 37’, but I’m not fond of how cramped the engine room is when it’s configured with twin 8.1L engines and V drives. I might start fussing trying to change a raw water impeller. Also, why does Sea Ray never enclose their Kohler generators?

I always really liked the inside of the Regals when I was in them at the Charlotte boat show. It seemed like you got a lot of bang for you buck with them compared to other models.

My Buddy bought a 34' Rinker this spring and it's a nice Cabin Crusier.

Also don't overlook Formula. I was in a new 330 a couple years ago that was insane. Loved that boat.

Sea Ray owners talk about the brand being overpriced.

I've enjoyed boat shopping for you in my spare time.

The Sundancers are beautiful boats but as you point out, they maximize living space by minimizing service space. I couldn't do that again. Baja is bad enough. And if it was me, I wouldn't even think of having sterndrives. The maintenance and water draw are just too much. Having said that, there does look to be a relatively nice (some sunburn) 340 in Destin with twin Vee Drive 496's. No hours listed though.
