Bajas really can do it all

Yesterday was a great day on my boat. My dad, a good friend of ours Dom and myself ran out to Grand Isle. There was a redfish rodeo going on, and although we stopped to check it out, there weren't many people there and no fish to see. I suppose they were cleaning them as they came in.

We spent a few hours in Barataria Pass and a few hours in Caminada Pass. Fishing. Yes fishing. In a play boat. I built a rod holder from some pvc tubing. And it held up really well, considering that there was some rough water crossing Blind Bay and Bayou St Dennis.

I didn't catch squat but a good buzz from drinking. Dom didn't even put a line out said he was waiting for us to catch one First. After not a bite on crab or mullet. Dad put out a small shrimp line and caught 5 small gaftop cats. Then his big line hit and he fought a nice bull red. Sadly the hook got caught in his gills and he bled to death before we could get to it. Sadly we didn't have a box to put him in so the crabs and birds will eat good. circle of life and all that jazz.

Ran back across light chop and turned 4800rpm 51.4 not bad for wrong prop, 3 guys and 70g fuel.

Had a great day till we got back to launch. Boat wouldn't sit right on trailer and in the process the trailer fell off the ramp, truck wouldn't pull it up or push it back. Greatfully some guys helped rock the boat while I powered it down and we changed ramps. Got it out the water and the drain plug rounded off. It was dark so were fighting skeeters while strapping the boat. Get home and no vice grip no pipe wrench would pull the plug. Drilled it, tried easy outs and no luck. Going to replace the assembly.

Oh the best part!? While in Caminada Pass another Baja Islander drove by, 232/252 not too sure. Everyone was on the boat pointing and waving. Had to be at us, weren't any other boats around it was later in the day and were the only boat still in the pass.

So see these boats can do it all. Play, fish, give joy, and give dread. Still love my boat.

Rod holders on a Baja. No wonder the Cigarette guys make fun of us. We are our own worst enemy.

But I will agree with you that we have very versatile boats.

While I didn't buy the Baja to fish out of. Watching my dad fight that bull red the smile on his face. Well worth it. We all had a good time.

As for the cig guys. Well if I had a cig, I'd have rod holder's on it too.

Turns out this is the irony.

All the fishermen seeing these big bad ass CC Cig boats that "don't even have fish boxes or rod holders" and "have so many motors they can't even land a fish over the transom".....so it goes both ways. I think the little islander in "coonass trim" is awesome. Do what it do brutha, F the haters.

Baja's may be able to do it all, but they are best at doing this:

(How in the hell did this thread degenerate into Taylor Swift?)

Dan my Man! Im low Man on the income pole. I could barely afford fuel or Beer for a weekend trip on a vessel like that.

I love my boat bought it to play and have fun.

As for TS. Well lunch my Man card. She is my fav pop artist. Yes my daughter got me into her Music. But ill say if TS offered me a vip backstage with her theres NO WAY id turn it down. That girl has talent and I bet its in more says than just singing.... If ya catch my drift.

I've peed off the swim platform before. That's gotta count for something.

Counts for a $1500 Fine by Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries for dumping RAW sewerage into the water.

I cant cité the exact section. However. Due to the law and year I was born I had to Take the boaters safety course and get a "license" to operate a boat over X size and X hp. And i recall that being in the material. Also, unrelated, but it Also said in another section, not to operate a jet drive over a school of fish. You can let your imagination run wild with that one and the reason they felt it necessary to put in the literature.

Yet people who swim in the ocean NEVER get out of the water to pee. Guess it makes a difference if the person is submerged.
