Sometimes you can hear it click when I hit the switch but nothing happens. I'll show it to you, if you ever make time.

And Hardin marine sells a nice set of angle cut tips if you have a set with baffles.

Humm. Come to think of it, we probably have more Islander owners on here than closed bow owners. I see the dawn of a new age of enlightenment!

That just means you leave the switch on.

You'd be more enlightened if you owned an Islander.

I do to. If you swap tips, get straight cut and you can keep the flappers. Helps keep water from slamming up the pipes when you come off plane.

And Dan, please don't tell me you drive around with these flags like the rest of the (insert derogatory comment) down here.

Really it's like Alabama football is all there is to life down here.

1 flag maybe. But everyone has 2 flags. I bet a saw 100 vehicles like that since Sunday. They afraid you won't see it if there is just one? I'll start asking them what the "A" stands for and then ask them if they can spell Alabama.

And no I really don't hate Alabama football. Just like watching people get worked up. I'd like to be a fan, I just can't bring myself to it. Kind of like I couldn't be a Panthers fan when I lived in NC.

Yeah - you can do this. I had a set of those as well, and the external mount flappers. I think I sent the set I had back to Hardin when I bought their battery trays. They make a muffler insert as well to slip in them if you wanted to quiet it down. I still don't know why Rob hasn't went that route.

the Hardin tips would be nice, good quality and a great price but I'd spend the extra and buy Corsa tips so I wouldn't have to drill any new holes in the transom, the Hardin may or may not be the same

While Im Waiting for the pool to top back off, Damn thing sprung a leak. I hate swimming pools with liners.

I may do some research on tips removal and replacement. Looks like mine just has a rubber gasket holding it to the hull.

Edit: Did you fly the Bama flag at half mast after the NC game.

Most are siliconed in place or worse. I tried all that sealant and it is a mess. It will pull the gelcoat off the transom. I went to a gasket so keep what you've got.

I was mistaken about the diverter butterflies. They do not have a rubber lip (well, I don't think they do). My tips have internal flappers (that are there to prevent water ingress up the tailpipes like the external flappers do) and those have rubber lips. I still like the external flapper though and run them. They take some of the harshness out of the exhaust note when running with the through hulls open.

If you want to gut your tips you can. There won't be a performance difference, but you will make more noise. That seems to be very important to some folks around here. And it is fun from time to time.

One piece aluminum. Been working great for 25+ years.

The difference between a Yankee and a Damn Yankee is a Damn Yankee stays.

Shoot no. I pulled down the USA flag so I could run the Bama flag to the top.

I don't know that I've done a harder job with any boat I've ever owned. That one was pretty bad. Took me about 9 hours over 2 days to get it. I think now, knowing where everything is and what tools are needed, I can probably do it in 5. I discovered a couple short cuts along the way.

Also helps when you don't drop the stainless locknuts in the bilge.
